Start Customer-Service AI with Request Classification

Many managers want a bot that answers everything. A less visible step may create value sooner: routing the request to the right person with a useful summary. Poor classification increases waiting and forces customers to repeat themselves.

Test before acting

Use an authorized sample and remove unnecessary personal information. Define categories such as availability, payment issues, delays and complaints. Run the model in comparison mode without automatically executing decisions, then compare its output with reviewed human classifications.

A hypothetical system may perform well overall while mishandling a small but sensitive complaint category. Review performance by category and send defined exceptions directly to staff. A model’s confidence score is not a guarantee of correctness.

Measure the complete workload

Subtract correction and review time from the time saved in initial sorting. Moving work between teams is not automatically a net saving. Preserve a manual operating route for outages.

Begin with a few stable categories and expand according to evidence. This teaches the business about its data and failure patterns before allowing automation to speak on its behalf. The improvement may be invisible to customers, yet clearly felt in how quickly they reach someone capable of resolving the problem.
