Recruit Sellers to Close Demand Gaps

New sellers do not contribute equal value. Another seller duplicating abundant inventory may add congestion, while a specialist filling repeated search gaps can enable transactions that were previously impossible.

Start with unsuccessful demand

Review low-result searches, recurring category requests and inquiries that fail to produce suitable offers. First establish whether the gap is real or caused by poor search interpretation and classification.

Imagine business buyers repeatedly seeking particular restaurant equipment. Recruiting suppliers who understand those specifications and maintain availability may matter more than doubling general seller registrations. Give them clear onboarding, useful required fields, simple stock uploads and a named support route.

Reward useful participation

Test bounded incentives linked to complete listings or responsive handling of inquiries rather than registration alone. Monitor for superficial inventory created to collect rewards. Sample listing quality and actual interactions.

Compare seller cohorts after incentives end, not only during the promotion. Successful acquisition makes relevant supply consistently available and gives sellers enough useful demand to remain active. This reframes growth work: the team is managing a market balance, not distributing rewards for an expanding account count. The strongest recruitment campaign is one whose value survives its promotional budget.
